Grind the above into powder and combine with Wu Mei (Fructus Mume) powder and a small amount of wheat flour to make a paste, then form into oat-sized pills. Ingest five to ten pills on an empty stomach. Swallow with warm water to induce diarrhea. To reduce size of abdominal mass, take with Chen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) tea. Swallow with cool water to stop continuous diarrhea.

This formula, in Zhu Zhenheng’s Danxi Xinfa (The Teachings of Danxi), is prescribed for all types of chronic and sudden Qi stagnation and mass accumulation. It has a profound ability to promote the flow of Qi and balance Yin and Yang by simultaneously sedating and tonifying as needed.
